I may be jumping the gun a bit by already making a post about Summer but here in Texas Spring only lasts about two weeks. The temps have already managed to exceed 90 degrees so I promptly switched over my skincare and other life essentials to prep for the blazing months ahead.
The days are getting longer, the sun seems to be getting hotter, and my winter skincare regimen is no longer needed. This summer I plan to go with the less is more motto by simplifying my beauty routine. I’m a little obsessed with keeping my skin as clean and clear as possible and have tried numerous products that never helped. Glossier released their Solution exfoliator earlier this year and it has been the game changer for me. From past breakouts I have a bit of hyperpigmentation and uneven texture but since using Solution I have noticed smoother skin and my dark spots gradually fading away!
With my skin clearing up there’s less need for covering up. I have completely ditched foundation for the Summer and 100% Pure’s BB Cream has become my new staple for everyday wear. It’s light, not cakey, and offers just enough glow for the perfect dewy look. On top of that, it also includes SPF 15 which means I can still protect my skin from the sunrays without having to layer on products.
With Summer heat comes that beautiful Summer glow. To be honest, once the temps hit the triple digits I don’t even think about staying outside long enough to actually develop a tan. So to give myself that gorgeous bronze goddess look, I use the Fifth Veda’s shimmering body oils! The Light Worker is filled with silver sparkles that give you the glowy dewy look. I use this mostly on my decollete and legs that give me a softer highlight. (Perfect for photoshoots fellow models!) I use Starseed for when I feel like glowing up to the max. Like seriously, the gold sparkles in this are almost blinding once you hit the light. That’s what we want right?! On top of all this glowage (yes, new word), both oils smell absolutely delicious featuring notes of musk and juniper. Mmmm
One of the main things I’ve been looking forward to all winter long is the return of the Farmer’s Market and buying local, fresh produce again. I enjoy waking up early on (some) Saturday mornings and dragging my little sister along to help me buy a heap of goodies to stuff in my Baggu. My Baggu goes everywhere with me and can pretty much fit any and everything in it. My favorite thing about it is that it is reuseable and helps eliminate the need for plastic bags. Also they come in so many cute colors and designs. Obviously I had to choose one that matched my market dress.
If the Baggu wasn’t millennial enough for you…guess what my favorite Summer drink is..
Ah..you guessed it. MATCHA!
I’ve actually been using and drinking Matcha throughout the winter months as a latte but now that it’s warmer I’ve switched over to a matcha iced latte. oouuu.
Not only is an iced matcha latte a great treat to beat the heat, but it’s also a good source of energy and mental clarity. If you’re tired of the crash and jitters from drinking coffee to stay energized, give matcha a try.
Mmkay this is beginning to sound like an ad (but seriously try it!)..moving on
Like the rest of you diligent and dedicated people, I worked on my summer body all winter long.
My weight bench is my new clothes hanger and my thighs are so round and flabby now they’re actually beginning to stick to each other. I’m terrible with being consistent with working out and enjoy food too much to do any kind of diet. One thing I will do and actually enjoy is riding my bike. I found this cute old school bike at a local flea market last year and plan to use it to help tone up my legs for those short shorts and beach days.
What will be your essentials for beating the heat this summer?
